Biography
Maria  is originally from Colombia. She is a guitarist, singer, composer, producer and educator graduated from The National University of Colombia. She moved to New York City in 2017 where she has performed regularly with her own quintet. Her main focus is jazz and afro-colombian music. Exploring the traditional rhythms and melodies from the caribbean and pacific coast of Colombia and introducing them to some of the most recognized jazz musicians in the scene in New York, Miami, and Spain. Her love for Latin music and culture has influenced her compositions in which she also includes traditional ethnic instruments like gaitas, millo flute, alegre drums.

She has played with various recognized musicians such as Ian Kenselaar, Benny Rubin Jr, Kayvon Gordon , as well as some of the most renowned colombian musicians like Ernesto "Teto" Ocampo, Hugo Candelario, Nidia Góngora, Urian Sarmiento, Antonio Arnedo, Kirtan Reggae, Bryan Muñoz.

She has been playing consistently in New York with the Maria Kali Quintet. They have performed at Gin Fizz Harlem, Starr bar, the Delancey, Mexican Festival, Trementina, Terrazza 7  and other venues.

Most recently she has been performing in Miami where the Latin influence and electro house music have become part of the live musical experience playing with renowned DJs such as DJ Anané at the Mad Butcher, Hotel Fountain Blue, Oak Gardens and Miami Brilliant Babes.

Music brings people together and bridges generations.
